Building up into the loft is a great way to create extra space. The owner of ref. 159 has taken the extra step of adding a dividing wall to create a screened off bathroom area. We love the luxury of having the bath in the bedroom - less of a walk!
White or neautral colours will always make a space look bigger, but take this one step further by painting the floor, walls and ceiling the same colour, as the owner of ref. 150 has done:

If you have high ceilings but a small footprint then a mezzanine could be the perfect solution:

Finally, why not bring the outside in and make your garden an extension of your living space with large floor to ceiling bi-fold doors, as the owners of ref. 512 have done:
